What the adverts don’t tell you about Black Friday

Dear friend

Like myself, you may already be tired of hearing about Black Friday sales. Is it all hype? Are the bargains genuine? Can I snap up cheap Christmas presents? Why on earth is Burma Campaign UK emailing me about it?

I'm emailing you because the truth is millions of people will shop online this Friday, and if you are one of them, and you live in the UK, you could raise funds to help desperate people in Burma, without it costing you a penny. And to continue our work, we need the money. It's that simple.

If you shop at Amazon, you could raise money to help the Rohingya in Burma.

If you shop Argos, you could raise money to help stop rape by the Burmese Army.

How about getting John Lewis or Sainsbury's to raise money to help free political prisoners in Burma?

You can do this because we have teamed up with easyfundraising. It works a bit like price comparison sites, who get a commission if you use their site to buy insurance etc. Except with easyfundraising we get a commission. Sometimes we get a few pounds, sometimes a few pence, but it all adds up and already we have raised hundreds of pounds.

It's really easy to sign up. Just go to http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/burmacampaignuk and within a few minutes you'll have an account.

I recommend downloading the toolbar donation reminder. I don't usually like using them but this one is unobtrusive and reminds you when you are on a site where you can raise a donation. It just makes it easier.

I'd rather be emailing you with an action to take to help the Rohingya at this desperate time, or free a political prisoner. That's what you signed up to help do. That's what we want to be doing at Burma Campaign UK. But without funding, we can't do this work. If you do this, it will help make a difference, and it won't cost you money, just a few minutes of your time.

Please do sign up.

Thanks
