Palm Campaign: “Even Though I’m Free I Am Not”

Dear friend

Burma Campaign UK is supporting a new campaign by The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) and the Former Political Prisoners Society (FPPS) – organisations set up by former political prisoners from Burma to campaign for the release of political prisoners.

Please support their photo petition calling for the unconditional release of all political prisoners in Burma. They are collecting photos of supporters with the name of a political prisoner written on their palm.
Three steps to support the campaign:
  1. Write the name of a political prisoner on your right palm, from the list of current political prisoners here
  2. Take a photo of yourself with your right palm showing and email to:
  3. Make it your profile picture on Facebook, Tweet it @aapp_burma and share on Instagram using #2015PalmCampaign
Free All Burma's Political Prisoners
You can see all of the photos collected so far on AAPP's Instagram page.

Please send your pictures before 13 March 2015 –  Burma's Human Rights Day, when the photographs of support and solidarity from across the world will be exhibited in Rangoon, Burma.

There are at least 177 political prisoners in Burma's jails, over six times the amount than in January 2014, and a further 213 political activists awaiting trial. This is in stark contrast to the government's promise that all political prisoners would be released by the end of 2013.

The steady rise in the number of political prisoners in the last year makes clear that the government is increasingly cracking down on fundamental freedoms and backtracking on reforms.
Thank you for your support.
