The Burmese military junta's former Northern Command (Ma-Pa-Kha) Commander Maj-Gen. Ohn Myint has pulled another fast one on the people of Myitkyina. He has sold the alley in Yan Gyi Aung quarter in Myitkyina, the capital of Kachin State in northern Burma after receiving his transfer order, a source said.

Ceasefire, non-ceasefire groups to abide by new constitution: Regional commanders

Regional commanders have said all ceasefire and non-ceasefire groups must abide by the new constitution approved by Burma's ruling junta in May. This was stated at a meeting with members of the United Wa State Army and Shan State Army, according to SHAN sources.

The Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) strongly condemns the fatal shooting of a Cambodian journalist and his son on 11 July 2008. Reporter Khim Sambo, 47, died on the spot after he was shot twice in the back as he emerged from sports stadium in Phnom Penh on Friday evening. His son, Khat Sarin Theada, 22, was shot in the chest and later died in hospital.

ထိုင္းနယ္စပ္ တာခ်ီလိတ္ၿမိဳ႕တြင္ ျမန္မာဖက္မွ ၀ယ္လိုအား တက္လာသျဖင့္ ထိုင္း ေမာ္ေတာ္ဆိုင္ကယ္ေစ်းမ်ား ျမင့္တက္သြားၿပီးေနာက္ တရား၀င္နယ္စပ္ကူးသန္းမႈ ပိတ္ပင္လိုက္သည့္အတြက္ ဆုိင္ကယ္ကုန္သည္မ်ား အခက္ေတြ႔ေနၾကသည္။
