The Burmese military junta has begun to arm twist afresh the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) by blocking all entry and exit points for traders, passengers and cars to KIO's key business centre on the Sino-Burma border in Northern Burma, sources close to KIO said.
 
Burmese military southeast command watches US warship

The Southeast Command based in Moulmein (Mawlamyine) the capital of Mon State has been keeping a close watch on a US warship which is waiting off the coast of Burma with relief supplies for cyclone refugees. The command has also posted soldiers on the costal villages along the bay in the state.

Malaria remains widespread in Mon state. The World Health Organization is concerned about diarrhea, malaria and dengue after Cyclone Nargis hit Burma 's commercial city Rangoon and Irrawaddy delta affecting over 2.4 million people.
