Ending the Suffering in Burma and Iraq

Ending the Suffering in Burma and Iraq

This week, while human rights activists and NGOs remember the massacre of some 2000 unarmed strikers and protesters by the Burmese military, Iraq continues a downward spiral politically, socially and economically. Maura Stephens is a journalist and human rights activist who has spent time in Iraq and continues to campaign for freedom and democracy in Burma. She is the U.S. Spokesperson for the International Campaign for Freedom of Aung San Suu Kyi and Burma. We'll speak with Maura about her experiences in Iraq and her work with Burmese exiles in the United States. Maura in particular talks about one Iraqi Interpreter in a series of articles.
